Quality and safety
Our dedication to quality at Providence Heatlh & Services is reflected in our quality control, quality assuance and continuous quality improvement programs. All aspects of testing, from receipt of specimens to delivery of reports, undergo careful and specific inspection for precision, accuracy and timeliness.
Proficiency testing
Providence Laboratory Services participates in extensive proficiency testing, including the College of American Pathologists Survey Program.
Safety first
Providence Laboratory Services follows strict universal precautions in handling specimens. All specimens, regardless of their source, are treated as biohazardous material. All specimens are transported to the lab in transport bags, provided by the lab, that meet all recent guidelines for safety. Our couriers follow specified handling procedures and carry safety kits in their cars.
The Providence Advantage
Faster turnaround
We have skilled technicians who perform testing around the clock, seven days a week. We generate reports faster than larger, out-of-state labs, while still providing the same technological sophistication.
Better specimen integrity
The shipping process requires special care and extra time, which can sometimes compromise specimens. With Providence Laboratory Services, specimens are picked up by a local courier or are collected at a nearby draw station, so that the likelihood of contamination or deterioration is reduced.
Dependable accuracy
Providence does not place our specialists under the typical cost/volume pressures. Equipped with the latest technology and given the time to examine samples carefully, our experts consistenly deliver accurate results.
Trust
Providence Laboratory Services voluntarily participates in extensive accreditation programs, including the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and The Joint Commission. All Providence Health & Services laboratories are licensed under CLIA and accredited through either CAP or The Joint Commission, both of which hold deemed status under CLIA.
