Dr. Andrea Roast believes open communication between patients and physicians is key to effective care. She works to educate her patients so they can make the best choices about their health for their particular lifestyle.
Dr. Roast emphasizes preventive care in her practice. "I'm aggressive about preventive care to help minimize medications," she says. "I believe medicine is a partnership between the physician and the patient, and both have a responsibility towards the goals of maintaining health."
Dr. Roast received her medical degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing. She completed her internship and residency at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Ore., where she also served as a chief resident.
Outside of the office, she enjoys yoga, cycling, skiing and hiking.
Personal Statement: To me, the practice of medicine is a multi-dimensional puzzle. Collaborating with others, both as an educator and as a learner, and using all the clues to work through this puzzle drives my enthusiasm. There's nothing more exciting than being surrounded by the experience and knowledge of clinically academic colleagues and driven residents, both of which I experience here at Providence. One of my personal interests includes the integration of medicine and computers for resident education, improved patient care and productivity benefits.
