Personal Statement: I was taught early in my medical career that one of the most important responsibilities of a physician is to teach. Teaching patients, teaching colleagues, and teaching future generations of doctors is duty that all of us accept as part of an unspoken oath. The environment at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center fully supports that philosophy making it the perfect place for me to practice my profession.

• Improving residency education through better metrics

• Transitions from inpatient to outpatient care

National/Regional Responsibilities:

• Pacific North West Consortium for Outcomes in Residency Education (PNW-CORE), a work group of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
• Providence Regional Disaster Management Work Groups

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Inpatient Teaching: 6 months out of the year I serve as the attending on one of the ward teaching services
• Moderating Morning Report: facilitating 3-4 morning reports per month with the various resident teams on the wards, night float, ICU or electives
