Dr. Scott Marsal decided to become a physician because he wanted to help people achieve and maintain the best health possible, so that they can attain as many of their personal goals as possible.

In his practice, he emphasizes shared decision making. He works to educate his patients so they can better understand the benefits as well as the risks of specific approaches and make health care decision together.

Dr. Marsal earned his medical degree from Ohio State University in Columbus. He completed his internship, residency and served a chief resident year at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

Dr. Marsal was born and raised in the Midwest and has two children. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, mountain biking, running and many other outdoor activities.

Personal Statement: The emphasis on teaching, spirit of innovation, and the unique collegiality between house staff and faculty drew me to Providence Portland. There is a dedication to excellence and learning in the Department of Medical Education that makes it a wonderful place to practice and teach.
