Rhett comes to us after a former career as a computer programmer and teacher. He has a particular interest in patient care handoffs.

Jacquelyn Dunn, D.O.
Undergraduate: Willamette University, Biology
Medical school: Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, Midwestern

Jackie is a member in the National Guard and is currently the Officer in Charge of her medical, dental and nursing providing education bridging these specialties. Jackies' hobbies include cooking, gardening, hiking and traveling. She plays the piano and is a singer.

Aaron Grossberg, M.D.
One-year Preliminary Program
Undergraduate: University of Colorado, Psychology
Medical school: Oregon Health & Science University

Aaron has extensive research experience in the area of cachexia. After his one year with our program, he will continue his training in radiation oncology. In addition to German and Spanish, he speaks basic Indonesian.

Jason Heino, D.O.
Undergraduate: University of Puget Sound, Biology & Chemistry
Medical school: Michigan State University of Osteopathic Medicine

Jason is a native of the Pacific Northwest. In addition to being an avid backpacker, hiker and runner-having completed several races-he also enjoys to spend time fishing, playing tennis, and skiing. Jason is also active in politics and stays up-to-date with current events.

Will Larison, M.D.
One-year Preliminary Program
Undergraduate: University of Oregon, Biology/Japanese/Chemistry
Medical school: Oregon Health & Science University

Will was born in Eugene, Oregon. He has been a volunteer for such diverse groups as Habitat for Humanity, No-One-Dies-Alone, and Planned Parenthood. Will has studied in Japan and is fluent in Japanese. He will continue his training with a career in radiology.

Laura Holton, M.D.
Undergraduate: University of Colorado, Developmental Biology
Medical school: Michigan State University College of Human Medicine

Laura was born and raised in Colorado. She has a degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology, comes to us with an extensive background in research, and has presented several posters. She is an avid rock climber and equates it to many of the calculating decisions in life.

Amer Salam, M.D.
Undergraduate: University of Wyoming, Chemistry/Economics
Medical school: University of Washington

Amer's family emigrated from India to Cheyenne, Wyo. Throughout medical school, Amer was extensively involved in research. He loves to snowmobile, fish and just be outdoors. Amer is fluent in four different languages: English, Hindi, Spanish and Urdu.

Fiona Seager, M.D.
Undergraduate: George Mason University, Virginia, University of Virginia, Biology & Spanish
Medical school: Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland

Fiona chose to go to medical school in Ireland because she preferred the rigorous academic focus. She has spent the last year performing clinical research at Johns Hopkins Glaucoma Center of Excellence. Fiona will continue her training in ophthalmology at Georgetown University. Horseback riding and music are Fiona's principal hobbies. Fiona is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

Roberta Trandev, D.O.
Undergraduate: University of Arkansas, Chemistry & International Business
Medical school: Pacific NW University of Health Sciences

Roberta was born and raised in Lithuania. She came to the U.S. to study on a full volleyball scholarship to University of Arkansas. Roberta is fluent in Lithuanian. She has aspirations to learn how to kite-surf. She has worked extensively with the medically underserved.

Joshua Walker, M.D.
Undergraduate: Gonzaga University, Biology
Medical school: Oregon Health & Science University

Joshua is self-proclaimed gadget guy. He has a Ph.D. in immunologic profiles. He plans to continue his training in radiation oncology. Josh is an avid golfer, and speaks Italian and Spanish.

Brandon Young, M.D.
Undergraduate: Portland State University, Biochemistry
Medical school: Oregon Health & Science University

Brandon is a native of the Pacific Northwest. He comes to us after a former career as a footwear designer at both Nike and Columbia Sportswear. Brandon takes a particular interest in the complexities of the patient-doctor relationship.

Michael Bleet, M.D.
Undergraduate: University of Minnesota, Electrical Engineering
Medical School: University of Minnesota Medical School

Michael was born and raised in Minnesota where they grow the nicest people on earth. He fits the mold. He is an EPIC and EMR genius and has spent the last year working on an EPIC transition team. Michael has also volunteered his time as a mentor to pre-medical students. Other interests include emerging technologies, stem cell research, diagnostics, genetics, proteomics, interactive education, and philosophy.

Samuel Bullick, D.O.
Undergraduate: University of California San Diego, Biochemistry & Cell Biology
Medical School: Pacific NW University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Sam graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCSD with his BA in biochemistry and cell biology. He rotated with us as a student in the ICU inspiring everyone he worked with to call us to recruit him. Sam is a very active person, subsequently most of his interests are sports and has completed an Olympic-distance triathlon. He loves to travel and has been to Africa, South America, and Europe, and would like to visit Australia.

Natalie Freidin, M.D.
Undergraduate: Monash University, Melbourne, Science
Graduate: Monash University, Melbourne, Pharmacy
Medical School: University of Queensland, Australia

In addition to her delightful accent, she brings an interest in Australian politics and women's rights. Natalie has completed an internship at The Royal Brisbane and Women's Health Hospital in Australia. She decided to continue her residency training in the States where is drawn to the unique challenges of the American health system and where there is more opportunities for subspecialty fellowship training. Natalie is fluent in Hebrew. She was also the captain of her schools touch football team.

Lela Gonzales, M.D.
Undergraduate: Adams State College, Biology & Chemistry
Medical School: University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine

Lela was born in Denver, Co. She has a strong interest in health and healthcare disparities. In 2011, Lela was awarded a Merit Scholarship and was nominated into the Gold Humanism Society in 2010. She is fluent in Spanish, a published poet, a runner, and enjoys rock climbing. Another hobby of Lela's is photography. She has donated many of her framed photographs to various silent auctions.

Abigail Hikida, M.D.
Undergraduate: University of Washington, Molecular, Cellular Developmental Biology
Medical School: University of Washington School of Medicine

Abby is a Pacific NW native from Seattle, WA. She is passionate about care of the indigent population and plans to pursue a Primary Care. Abby enjoys all outdoor sports, running, basketball, tennis, hiking, and kayaking. She was a youth basketball coach for over 5 years. She is also a baker/cook and has catered weddings and other parties.

Thuy-Tien Pham, M.D.
Undergraduate: University of Portland, Biochemistry
Medical School: Creighton University School of Medicine

TT is from Hillsboro. At the University of Portland she graduated Cum Laude and was on the Dean's list. She has a passion for longitudinal care and plans to go into Primary Care and serve the Vietnamese community in Hillsboro. She is also fluent in Vietnamese and Spanish. Hobbies of TT include cooking, travel, arts and crafts, animals, snowboarding, tennis and musical theater.

Leela Rao, M.D.
Undergraduate: Wellesley College, Physics
Graduate: University of Wisconsin at Madison, Astronomy
Medical School: Oregon Health & Science University

Leela has a background in Astronomy and Physics, and had a prior career as a software engineer. Lela has done research about cancer screening practices in rural communities; was the head of Hematology/Oncology Interest Group at her medical school; and was the vice president of the American Medical Student Association during her second year of medical school. She has a identical twin sister who is also an Internal Medicine physician. Leela also speaks French and Telugu.

Saneea Tanwir, M.D.
Medical School: Baqai Medical & Dental College, Pakistan

Saneea was born in Pakistan, and raised in Portland. She has done extensive international work including 4 years with the non-government organization, Asian Muslims in need. In medical school, she received several distinction awards and was ranked 3rd and 4th in her class during her 2nd and 4th years, respectively. Other languages Saneea speaks includes Urdu, Hindi and Punjab. Her hobbies include bicycling, hiking, rock climbing, cricket, creative writing, poetry, videography and photography. Saneea has a dream to volunteer with Doctors Without Borders.

Lakshmi Aggarwal, M.D.
Undergraduate: University of Pennsylvania, Geology
Medical School: Drexel University College of Medicine

Lakshmi was born and raised in Philadelphia, Penn. She attended University of Pennsylvania and studied for a year in Australia. She has volunteered a lot of her time to mentoring middle school students, and was a “Big Sister” in the Big Brothers/Sister Program. Lakshmi enjoys running, yoga, hiking, reading magical realism and modern fiction, and is fluent in Spanish. She is also an avid traveler and has been to Australia, Argentina, Chile, France, India, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain and Turkey.

Jeremy Cree, D.O.
Undergraduate: Biology, University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA, 2005
Medical School: Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Midwestern University, 2011

Jeremy was born and raised in southern California. He attended UPS in Tacoma on a music scholarship with emphasis on woodwinds. Jeremy was a bartender in downtown Seattle after college. The following summer he lived in Spain for three months. He spent a month volunteering for public health in Oaxaca before moving to Portland to work as a clinical research coordinator for FDA phase II, III and IV trials for the Division of Cardiology at The Oregon Clinic. His interests include cycling, foodie cuisine and music – his sax heroes being John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins. Jeremy hopes to settle in the Northwest, with an ambition towards hospital or critical care based practice.

Sarah Dawson, D.O.

Medical School: A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine, Mesa, AZ, 2011

Sarah was born and grew up in England. In her early teen years, she moved to the United States. She grew up enjoying sports, especially soccer. In fact, that's how she met her husband, Ricardo, playing on an adult co-ed team. They just had their first baby – a boy. Sarah enjoys the variety and intellectual challenge of internal medicine and has a special interest in hematology/oncology. She hopes to settle and practice in southern Oregon, where she did several clerkships. Sarah's 10-year goals are to run her own practice, build a house on a farm and travel around Europe.

Patricia Fogarty, M.D.
Medical School: University of Otago, New Zealand, 2006

Patricia was born in South Africa and immigrated to New Zealand with her family during her teenage years. During medical school, she completed an elective in Portland, Oregon. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and chose to return for post graduate training. Her professional interests are wide ranging from critical to palliative care. In her spare time Patricia enjoys running, hiking, cooking and traveling. She caught the "travel bug" from trips to Europe, Asia and Australasia. South America is next on her list.

Steven Francis, M.D., M.B.A.
Undergraduate: Biomedical Engineering & Biochemistry, UCLA, 2006
Medical School: UCLA, David Geffen School of Medicine, 2011 (MBA)

Steve was born in Torrance, California, spent his teen years in Las Vegas, and then moved to Los Angeles after graduating high school. His travels have been mostly limited to surfing road trips in California and Tijuana although he went to England for a spring break a few years ago. Steve's main hobbies are surfing and scuba diving, but he used to sail often in college. He is looking forward to windsurfing in the Gorge. Steve's other interest is flying. He has his pilot's license, and hopes to finish his helicopter license in the coming years. Though he is still waiting for final approval, his plan is to commission in the Air Force after residency, become a flight surgeon, and see a little bit of the world. Another option would be a pulmonary/critical care fellowship because of his interest in critical care and hyperbarics.

Laura Longwell, D.O.
Undergraduate: Medical Technology, West Virginia University, 1999
Medical School: West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, 2011

Laura was born in Steubenville, Ohio, and grew up across the river in Follansbee, West Virginia. After earning her undergraduate degree, she was a medical technologist for eight years. After years of working, mountain biking and hiking with great friends, appreciating numerous beautiful areas in West Virginia, Laura flew the coop to pursue a degree in medicine. Medical school broadened her horizons more than she could have imagined. Recently, she spent two months in Sierra Leone, West Africa, during her fourth year of medical school where she immersed herself in the culture, learned medicine from a different perspective and gained a greater appreciation for life. Laura loves music – everything from playing the piano to hearing locals play live. As for her future plans in medicine, she will wait and see. Laura enjoys the challenge of critical care, but has been inspired by her experience in Sierra Leone to provide primary care for those less fortunate.

Tom Shi, M.S., M.D.

Having lived in four corners of the United States for various jobs and schooling, Tom finally decided to return to Portland, to the rains, the green parks, Powell's and the parents. Born in Beijing, he left China when he was twelve, but still retains a local accent in his Mandarin. When not buried in textbooks, he likes to….read (yeah, his parents think he needs more hobbies too!). Other activities that make him happy include cooking and eating food, traveling, hanging out with friends and more. He is open-minded about career choices after residency, and is currently thinking about rheumatology, critical care or outpatient medicine.

Jennifer Vineyard, D.O.
Undergraduate: Microbiology, Arizona State University, 2006
Graduate: Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, 2011

Jennifer has a particular interest in palliative medicine. She has plans to pursue both–primary and palliative care–somewhere on the West Coast. With her free time, she likes to run, hike, read, do yoga, take a belly dance class, garden, drink wine or explore. She has been involved in animal rescue for many years. She would love to travel to India for a medical mission.

Tyler Weaver, M.D.
Undergraduate: Microbiology/Molecular Biology, Univ. of Wyoming, 2006
Medical School: University of Washington School, 2011

Tyler was born and raised in Wyoming, and his heart still beats brown and gold! After spending time doing bench research during his junior year of college, he realized that he could never be a full-time researcher because he is too much of a people person. After finishing his undergraduate in Wyoming, he moved to Seattle to pursue his medical degree. Tyler and his wife, Cheri, have three children. Tyler loves, loves, loves both Nordic and alpine skiing. He also attempts to fly fish and golf when he has time. He speaks fluent Danish or, at least, he did a few years ago when he had occasion to use it. He is particularly interested in traditional practice incorporating both inpatient and outpatient care. He plans on returning to Wyoming after residency and pursuing a career in rural internal medicine. Tyler's favorite part of medicine is helping people understand what is going on with their health and connecting with them on a personal level. He feels like the doctor-patient relationship is what inspired him to pursue a career in medicine and what gives him his day-to-day joy working in health care.
