Dr. Heidi Kjos recently served as a physician for space shuttle astronauts and fighter pilots as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. In her current practice, she is a strong advocate for prevention as the best medicine and emphasizes patient education. "I try to empower my patients by providing the latest medi-cal information, so they can take an active role in their health care," she says. "I also encourage regular exercise."
Believing that every person is unique, Dr. Kjos enjoys getting to know her patients and their family members and helping patients discover the best options of care for their individual situations. She prides herself on being a good listener.
Dr. Kjos earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota, then completed her internship and residency at La Crosse-Mayo Family Medicine Residency in La Crosse, Wis.
In her free time, she enjoys playing golf and tennis and traveling.
