John Spitler, PA-C, was drawn to a career as a physician assistant by his desire to better serve those in need. After more than a decade serving as a volunteer firefighter/EMT in rural Arizona, he felt there was more he could do, and he felt the unique structure of the physician-PA relationship would best allow his experiences and education to be put to good use. "I chose family medicine because of its challenges," said John. "It gives me the chance to have relationships with patients at all stages of life and be a positive part of their lives," says John.
Providing compassionate care and helping patients understand and manage their health are John's top priorities. "I believe my most important role as a health care provider is the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, but it's equally important to assist patients in navigating their way through our complex medical systems," he said.
John completed his bachelor's degree in clinical health services from the University of Washington's MEDEX program in Seattle. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
John was born in Norfolk, Va., and spent much of his life in rural southern Arizona where he owned a construction company, served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT and public official, and raised three children before moving to Washington state 11 years ago. In his free time, John enjoys music, travel, carpentry, and spending time with his friends and family.
