As a medical oncologist, Rom Leidner, M.D., believes that every patient deserves honest communication and attentiveness. "Letting patients know what to expect in advance makes all the difference in getting through what are some of the most challenging treatments in medicine," he says.

In his practice, Dr. Leidner strives to help each patient understand as much as possible about their cancer and its therapy, drawing on what he has learned through compassionate concern for other patients. "I have to do a lot of listening," he says.

He earned his medical degree at Tel Aviv University in Israel and completed an internal medicine residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, where he served as chief resident. He went on to fellowship training in medical oncology at Case University Hospitals in Cleveland.

Dr. Leidner grew up in Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and has traveled extensively in the west, including sea kayaking the Inside Passage from British Columbia to Alaska. He is delighted to return to the Northwest where he feels most at home, while having the opportunity to contribute to cancer care and research.
