Dr. Cai received his MS and M.D. degrees from Hunan Medical University in China, as well as a Ph.D. in tumor immunology.
After completing a post-doctorate fellowship in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University, he joined the faculty of Yale Medical School as an associate research scientist.
Dr. Cai was a resident in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Chicago Hospital prior to his fellowship in gastrointestinal and liver pathology at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He joined Providence in 2001.
