Cancer conferences

Cancer conferences

Also known as: Tumor conference

Providence Cancer Center offers tumor-specific multidisciplinary cancer conferences at several Portland-area locations and via remote web access. Regardless of geographic distance, providers may tap into the expertise of our experienced multidisciplinary team to discuss patients with highly suspected or diagnosed cancers.

Our Cancer Conferences provide a forum for providers to:

  • Present prospective cases
  • Consult with medical peers across specialties to discuss best practices and treatment strategies
  • Explore treatment options for clinical therapies
  • Advance care for patients throughout Oregon and SW Washington

Case Submission Process and Schedule
Case submissions must be submitted through the Online Case Submission Form. This allows our conference coordinating team to have all required information for our pathology and diagnostic imaging department to prepare case presentations.

Online form from a Providence Computer
Instructions to access the online form from an external non-Providence Computer

Required information includes:

  • Patient’s name–spelling is critical
  • Medical record number, if known
  • Date of birth
  • Diagnosis (not code)
  • Attending/Presenting physician
  • Intended cancer conference (we have ten)
  • Location of pathology
  • Location of diagnostic films

Add-On / Cut-Off Guideline
Providence’s Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology departments require advance notice to prepare films and pathology information: 24-48 hours for items within the Providence system, or 48-72 hours for items outside of Providence. Please see recommended cut-off times below. In most instances, cases submitted after the cut-off date may still be presented, but may not have their films and pathology available. Some conferences allow cases to be presented ad-hoc.
