Providence Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Program

Providence Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Program

More than 50,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral, head and neck cancer this year. Providence Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Program offers hope to patients with benign and malignant tumors of the oral cavity (mouth), tongue, pharynx (throat), larynx (voice box), nose, paranasal sinuses, salivary glands and thyroid gland, as well as tumors at the skull base.

In 2012, Providence opened the Providence Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Clinic to treat these conditions. Our multidisciplinary treatment team includes physicians, dentists, nurses, speech pathologists, audiologists, nutritionists and social workers, who work together to provide optimal tumor control and maximal functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Early diagnosis is critical to survival in this group of cancer patients. Funded in part by a generous $55,000 grant from the HEDCO Foundation, Providence Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Clinic utilizes the HD Rhino-Laryngo system, a high-definition endoscopic tool that allows for enhanced visualization of the upper aerodigestive tract, earlier and more accurate diagnosis, and hopefully, improved functional and oncologic outcomes. Find information on additional funding this clinic has received for important research projects.
