Overview

Providence Thoracic Oncology Program

Welcome to Providence Thoracic Oncology Program (also known as Providence Lung Cancer Program) at Providence Cancer Center. Our program serves physicians and their patients who have cancers of the chest, including lung cancer.

We are a team of doctors, nurses, social workers and researchers striving to provide and promote the best possible care to people with cancers of the chest, of which the most common is lung cancer. We are also dedicated to the care of people with cancers of the esophagus and thymus, as well as mesothelioma and all other chest cancers.

"Excellent patient outcomes depend on uniform approaches to patient care that are based on the best clinical and research evidence. This requires coordination and communication among multiple physician specialists, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, social workers and the patient, as well as innovative use of informatics, databases and the Internet. Providence is already on the cutting edge in each of these areas. I am proud of our progress and excited about the future." --  John R. Handy Jr., M.D., Hon.D.
