Providence Orthopedic Institute is actively involved in local and national research and is a leader in efforts to improve patient outcomes. Our goal is to restore our patients’ ability to move with comfort and confidence.
Providence will be one of the first health systems in the nation to begin submitting data this fall to the American Joint Replacement Registry. This uniform registry system will allow us to expand outcomes research and enable patients, in consultation with their care providers, to make informed choices about their total joint replacement.
Providence is one of the first partners to join the recently formed national High Value Healthcare Collaborative. This collaborative of leading health systems will work to improve care and reduce costs by disseminating knowledge through a “learning network”. These shared outcomes will set the standard for national models of orthopedic care for total hip and knee replacements.
Clinical Outcomes Research
Providence Orthopedic Institute assists supported researchers with data collection and analysis for clinical outcomes research. Clinical outcomes research is aimed at determining the optimal therapeutic method for a condition usually conducted by evaluation of the results of therapeutic regimens with the aim of publication.
Clinical Trials Research
Providence Orthopedic Institute supports investigator initiated and sponsored clinical trials research. Clinical trials review prospective biomedical or behavioral research studies of human subjects that are designed to answer specific questions about biomedical or behavioral interventions such as drugs, treatments, devices, or new ways of using known drugs, treatments or devices. Clinical trials are used to determine whether new biomedical or behavioral interventions are safe, efficacious and effective.
