Providence Behavioral Health Adult Inpatient Treatment
Our program provides a multidisciplinary treatment team that includes psychiatrists, registered nurses, mental health therapists, social workers, occupational therapists, hospital chaplains and other support staff to plan, coordinate, provide and evaluate patient care.
Psychiatrists
are physicians who have specialized training in dealing with emotional and behavioral problems. The psychiatrist oversees patient care, provides information about medications, and works with other care providers to treat the patient’s emotional and medical conditions.
Registered nurses
are trained in both medical and behavioral health issues. They meet with patients during the admission process, administer medications and monitor patients’ conditions. Registered nurses also keep patients informed about the treatment program, medications prescribed by physicians and other treatments related to the patients’ medical conditions. Registered nurses can serve a patient’s primary contact person while in the program.
Mental health therapists
are trained in psychology, social work, counseling, expressive therapies and other areas of behavioral health practice. They serve as a patient’s primary contact person while in the program, working with other team members to keep the patient informed about the treatment plan. Mental health therapists also lead group therapy sessions and meet with patients during the admission process.
Social workers
have special education and training in social work. They help patients make plans for care after they leave the hospital.
Occupational therapists
complete an assessment that will help form a patient’s individualized treatment plan. They also provide social and recreational therapy activities and group therapy sessions to develop coping skills in patients.
Hospital chaplains
provide spiritual support on a personal basis and in groups.
